Send Money to Sierra Leone: Check the True Cost Before You Pay

The fee a provider shows is only part of what a transfer to Sierra Leone costs you. We added a free true-cost checker to Globe2Me so you can see the rest in leones.

Where the real cost hides

As a purely hypothetical example, a 3% fee plus a 2% rate margin costs you about 5% of the amount you send, even though the quote only mentions the 3%.

World Bank price tracking puts the average cost of a US$200 transfer to Sub-Saharan Africa at roughly 8%, against a UN target of 3%.

How to use the checker

  1. Pick the currency you send from.
  2. Ask each provider you are considering how many leones your recipient will get for the same amount, and what fee you pay on top.
  3. Type those quotes in. The checker compares them with the latest daily mid-market rate and shows the total lost as a percentage.

Nothing you type leaves your device, there is no sign-up, and we hard-code no provider fees, because the cheapest option changes every day. Example rows are illustrative, not real quotes.

Guides by country and by payout method

There are plain-English pages for sending from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, India, Ireland, the Netherlands and the UAE. Payout guides cover mobile money, bank accounts and cash pickup.

Start at the send money hub. Mid-market rates come from open.er-api.com and are indicative. For provider-by-provider background, see our send money comparison and the mobile money guide.
